Wednesday 12th October (Session 4)
This lesson we did more editing of our film and completed the ordering. We cut out the clips that we didn't need and sped up some and faded some colours to make them as well fitting as possible. This was because, when filming we used two different cameras; and due to unavailability, only one was HD. Therefore, the filming done on this camera is of a brighter light and better quality than that of the other camera despite them appearing the same whilst filming. We also faced the problem that when watching back our clip one of the shots had been filmed from the left side of one of the characters, rather than the right side- breaking the 180' rule. Hence, we then had to research how to flip this and found that we needed to use the "flop" technique on Final Cut Express and we were able to flip the shot around so that it appeared as if it had been filmed over the right shoulder instead of the left. Although this took a while to figure out, it saved us from having to re-film these sections and we are therefore pleased with our results.
Wednesday 12th October (Session 1)
This lesson we began the editing of our film; we began by cutting up all of our clips in the correct places and then re-ordered them for continuity. We then had to wait for all of the clips to render (which took a while).

Tuesday 11th October 2011 (Session 4)
Today we has a tutorial from Jamie Oliver on how to use iMovie, Final Cut Express, and iDVD together. We then sorted out the clips that we needed, and the clips that we didn't, converted them and put them into Final Cut Express.
Wednesday 5th October (Session 4)
This session we finished the filming. We then checked that we had shot each shot correctly and from the suitable angles according to our story-board and then uploaded all of our clips on to the macs in the classroom.
Wednesday 5th October (Session 1)
This lesson, we had to think on the spot slightly and things didn't exactly go to plan. As Tiffany was unwell and therefore unable to attend college, leaving myself and Brogan slightly disorientated. In our plans Brogan was meant to be in our clip, which would have meant that I would have been left alone to do all of the filming and this was not possible. Therefore, we had to spend the first part of the lesson finding a replacement for Brogan. Once we had done this, we had to go to Miss Dunn to get a camera, where we then found out that the technician- Jamie Oliver- was also absent so we could not use the other equipment such as the steady-cam, this also challenged our plans. Once we has re-organised things and re-planned our filming techniques, we told our actors- Callum Bowyer and Laura Beswick- what we wanted them to do, we went to get the key for the room in which we wanted to film, set up the props and got on with filming.

Tuesday 4th October (Session 4)
Today, due to a change of plan with staff and availability at college, we were unable to film our preliminary task. Instead, we had a tutorial from Jamie Oliver on how to use Final Cut Express, and a recap on using the video cameras. We then put our skills into practice and started to play around with the programme to help learn the techniques.

Monday 3rd October (Out of School)
This evening I met with Brogan Adams and Tiffany Pickford and we spent about one and a half hours planning and creating our final storyboard.
We also found out that Mr Owen can no longer assist us as an actor in our sequence and therefore spent time finding two possible replacements whom we will look at and discuss tomorrow.

Wednesday 28th September 2011 (Session 1)
This lesson we talked about what we are going to do for our preliminary task film and began to create a story board. (Photo will be uploaded when completed).
Tuesday 27th September 2011 (Session 4)
Today we learned and researched the key three techniques that we will have to include in our preliminary task video. We had to write a definition of each technique in our own words and then find an example, and then think of an example from a film.
>MATCH ON ACTION.
This is when two different shots are used to show continuous action. So, the first part of the action is shown using one shot angle and then it cuts to show the rest of the action, from where the previous shot left off, but, using a different shot or angle.

>SHOT/REVERSE SHOT.
This is where a shot (for example, a point of view shot) shows one character in the shot looking at the other character, and then swaps to show the other character looking back. The characters are shown facing in opposite directions so they appear to be facing one another.

>THE 180 DEGREE RULE.
This rule states that in a scene, two characters always need to maintain the same left/right relationship to one another despite the angle of the shot. If this rule is broken, the viewer feels disorientated and confused.
